Hi there, food lover! 👋 Today we’re heading to the vibrant streets of Colombia for a snack that’s fun, colorful, and loaded with flavor — the Colombian Hot Dog! 🌭🎉 Known locally as Perro Caliente Colombiano, this is no ordinary hot dog. It’s piled high with creamy sauces, tangy toppings, crispy potato sticks, and just the right amount of tropical flair. Perfect for game nights, casual get-togethers, or just treating yourself to something wildly delicious.

Ingredients:
For the hot dog:
- 4 halal beef or chicken hot dog sausages
- 4 hot dog buns (soft, slightly sweet)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- ½ cup finely chopped onion (optional)
Toppings & sauces:
- ½ cup pineapple sauce (see note below)
- ¼ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup mustard
- 1 cup crispy potato sticks (papas fosforito)
- ½ cup diced fresh pineapple (optional but amazing)
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Pineapple sauce:
- 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ¼ cup water

Directions:
1️⃣ Make the pineapple sauce: In a small saucepan, combine pineapple chunks, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat until pineapple softens (about 8–10 minutes). Blend into a smooth sauce and let cool.
2️⃣ Cook the sausages: Boil, grill, or pan-fry the halal sausages until heated through and slightly browned.
3️⃣ Warm the buns: Lightly toast or steam buns so they’re warm but still soft.
4️⃣ Assemble the magic: Place a sausage in each bun. Sprinkle cheese over the hot sausage so it melts slightly. Drizzle with pineapple sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard.
5️⃣ Top it off: Add chopped onions (if using), diced pineapple, and a generous handful of crispy potato sticks. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
